Do you remember the ocean, abaayo?
With the exhibition Do you remember the ocean, abaayo? Malmö based photographer and poet Ikram Abdulkadir reflects on her relationship to the ocean, connecting the stories of the ocean from her fathers childhood in Somalia to the beaches in southern Sweden where she brings her sisters, hoping to create a memorable summer.
Ikram Abdulkadir (born in 1995 in Nairobi) started her instagram account @ikraimism to explore photography as a media and her own creativity within it. Her work has since been widely acclaimed and she was earlier this year shortlisted as one of the most interesting Swedish photographers of her generation.
Do you remember the ocean, abaayo? Was the first exhibition curated and produced by Puss Publications. Ikram has earlier made the solo exhibition We will meet again in paradise at Skånes konstförening.
The exhibition took place at OBRA Malmö Stora Varvsgatan 12
