”These photographs were taken during the six weeks we were hospitalized in the neonatal unit with our son Björn in the fall of 2019. Björn was born two months early and everything happened very fast, from the time I woke up in the morning with a massive bleeding it took fifty minutes until he was born. We were lucky to be able to get to a hospital quickly and to have access to such good healthcare in Sweden. Had we arrived a few minutes later, it could have ended badly. I photographed a lot during this period because I immediately felt that this was something we needed to remember and process. We became mothers so suddenly and that morning life changed completely.”

With BABY photographer Märta Thisner with incredible presence and warmth has documented her and her wife Sophie's first staggering time as new parents. The result is an intimate and breathtaking journey through vulnerability, worry, hope and joy.

BABY is exhibited at Puss Publications October 20th to November 11th. In collaboration with book designer Matilda Plöjel and Sailor Press the book BABY will be released in connection to the exhibition.
